C'mon baby, light my fire
Ever since Christmas morning, I've been planning this entry. The first photo was going to be of a vintage emerald solitaire, marking the occasion of Rock Star's proposal of marriage to me (!).
Long story short, the engagement photo is instead of the fireplace of the home for which our bid was accepted today. To us, the hearth is a better representation of the life we're going to build together than a gem that comes from a land far away.

Yay!!
Congratulations!!
And the pictures are perfect!
Congratulations! That's just terrific news - and I think buying a home together is a wonderful way to continue to build upon the foundation you've already laid.
Congrats!
that is so awesome.. its so nice when people can overlook the whole "ring" thing to put in perspective what is really important and meaningful!
Thanks! We're superdupercrazy excited and I maybe had a little too much to drink last night in celebration.
And the downstairs neighbor maybe hates us now based on all the uncontrollable jumping (I tried to jump quietly, but I'm still carrying around a few holiday cookies).
Congratulations on the home and the engagement!!
hell yes! congratulations!
Congratulations!!! Downpayment vs Ring? HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE! So exciting, the fireplace looks incredible, the rest of the house must be fab too!
I got a Toyota Echo instead of a ring and we eloped. So, 5 yrs later we were able to buy a house directly out of grad school (well, Mr/Dr Moe is out of grad school anyway).
Woo-hoo! Ah well, what do you care about making nice with the neighbors downstairs anymore, eh?! :)
Congrats on the engagement! I hope that the two of you will be so happy together. Best of luck as you begin your life together.
Wow!!! Congratulations!!!
Dan and I are very very happy for you!!
AAAAAAAHHHHH! you go guys! i know y'all will be blissfuly happy! i am soooo excited for you amanda! big news...
YAY! Sorry I'm belated on this--but I wish you all the best, for the house and the marriage.
When my grandparents got engaged, the didn't have any money to buy a ring--or running water in the house. So after they'd been married for about 3 years, they finally saved up for a ring, and my grampa went out to get it and instead came home with a kitchen sink so that my grandma didn't have to go outside to get water every day. True romance.
(He bought her a ring later--I have it now and wear it every day!)
