Me: ... All I'm saying is that I used to be a waitress, too, so I'm really pretty patient. But, you should provide water as soon as possible and acknowledge your customers within 10 minutes. Even if it's just to say, 'I'm slammed, but I'll be right with you.'

Absolutely - just a hi and water and a menu, at least.
I was the worst waitress evah. Really really terrible.
However, I worked at a pizza delight, so the incentive really wasn't there...baseball teams and pitchers of beer with a loonie tip? No thanks.

Haha, as a cook, I have the utmost respect for my servers. Unfortunately, my coworker does not. I had to remind her that the servers type in food mods because the customer asked for it, not to ruin her life.
